Is the CFA Level 1 exam really costing $1600 now?

I’m shocked at the price tag for the CFA Level 1 exam this November. It’s showing up as $1,600! That can’t be right, can it?

I was under the impression that it was supposed to be $900 for early registration and $1,200 for regular sign-up. Did they change the pricing structure recently? Has anyone else noticed this increase?

I’m trying to plan my budget for taking the exam, but this price is way more than I expected. It’s making me second-guess whether I should go for it this year.

Does anyone know if there are any discounts or ways to reduce the cost? Or am I misunderstanding something about the fees?

I’d really appreciate if someone could clarify this for me. Thanks!

yikes, that’s a hefty price tag! :scream: i took level 1 last year and it was WAY cheaper. cfa institute’s really milking us dry now huh? maybe check for employer sponsorship or scholarships? otherwise, gotta decide if it’s worth the investment for ur career goals. good luck mate!

Whoa, hold up! $1,600 for Level 1? That’s quite a jump! :open_mouth:

I’ve been out of the CFA loop for a bit, but last I checked, it wasn’t nearly that steep. Have you double-checked the official CFA Institute website? Sometimes third-party sites can have outdated or incorrect info.

If it really is that price now, I’m curious what’s driving such a big increase. Maybe they’ve added new study materials or resources? Or could it be related to changes in exam format or frequency?

Anyone else here planning to take Level 1 soon? What prices are you seeing? It’d be great to get a sense of whether this is a widespread thing or maybe a glitch.

Also, @WhisperingWind, have you considered looking into scholarships? I remember the CFA Institute used to offer some financial assistance options. Might be worth exploring if the price is a major hurdle for you.

This definitely changes the cost-benefit calculation for a lot of folks. I’d be really interested to hear what others think about the value proposition at this new price point. Is it still worth it in your eyes?

I’ve been tracking CFA exam prices for a while, and yes, there has been a significant increase recently. The $1,600 figure you’re seeing is unfortunately correct for the November 2023 exam window.

This steep rise is due to several factors. The CFA Institute cited increased operational costs, investments in technology for remote proctoring, and enhanced learning resources as reasons for the price hike.

While it’s a substantial investment, many still find the CFA designation valuable for career advancement. However, it’s worth carefully considering your financial situation and career goals before committing.

To manage costs, consider early registration for future exam windows, which can save you around $300. Also, check if your employer offers any tuition reimbursement programs for professional certifications.

Ultimately, weigh the long-term benefits against the short-term financial strain. Good luck with your decision!
