Hey there ExploringForest! :herb:

Wow, what a great question! I’m in my second year studying Environmental Science, and honestly? It’s been quite the rollercoaster!

I chose this major because I’ve always been passionate about nature, but I had no idea how much math and chemistry would be involved. That was a bit of a shock at first. But you know what? It’s actually made me appreciate the complexity of ecosystems even more.

One thing that’s really surprised me is how much fieldwork we get to do. Last semester, we spent a week camping in a national park, studying biodiversity. It was amazing!

I’m curious though - what majors are you considering? Have you had a chance to shadow anyone in those fields? I found that super helpful when I was deciding.

Anyone else here studying something environment-related? What’s been your experience?

i switched from psychology to marketing and it was the best decision ever! initially i thought psych would be my thing, but the coursework felt dry. marketing is way more dynamic and suits my creative side. plus, the job prospects seem better. don’t be afraid to switch if ur gut says so!

I’m actually pretty pleased with my major choice in Computer Science. It wasn’t an easy road, but it’s been rewarding. The curriculum was more challenging than I expected, especially the math components, but that pushed me to grow. One surprise was how much emphasis there is on teamwork and communication skills - it’s not just coding in isolation like I thought. The field is constantly evolving, which keeps things exciting. My advice would be to really research the day-to-day realities of careers in your potential major. Talking to professionals or doing internships can give you valuable insights. Don’t be afraid to adjust your path if needed - your interests might change as you learn more about different fields.
