Affordable and quality online cooking courses: What are my options?

Hey everyone! I’m looking to improve my cooking skills but I don’t want to break the bank. Can anyone recommend some good online culinary programs that won’t cost a fortune? I’m a beginner cook and I’d love to learn more about different cuisines, cooking techniques, and maybe even some baking. It would be great if the course offers certificates too, but that’s not a must. Has anyone tried any online cooking classes they really liked? What was your experience like? I’m open to both live classes and self-paced options. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Oh, cooking courses! That’s so exciting! I’ve been on a similar journey recently and it’s been such a blast.

Have you checked out Coursera? They have this amazing course from the Culinary Institute of America that’s pretty affordable. I’m halfway through it and I’m already impressing my friends with my new skills!

What kind of cuisine are you most interested in? I’m personally obsessed with Mediterranean food right now. There’s something about those fresh, vibrant flavors that just makes my mouth water. :tomato::olive:

Oh, and don’t forget about YouTube! There are so many talented chefs sharing their knowledge for free. I’ve learned some killer tricks from channels like Binging with Babish and Food Wishes.

Are you more into fancy plating or hearty home cooking? I’d love to hear what you’re hoping to achieve with your culinary journey! Maybe we could even swap recipes sometime?

yo, check out masterclass! gordon ramsay’s course is fire, learned tons. bit pricey but worth it. youtube’s awesome too - joshua weissman and sam the cooking guy are lit. pro tip: start with basics, knife skills n stuff. good luck n have fun cookin up a storm!

I’ve had great success with Udemy’s cooking courses. They often have sales where you can snag comprehensive courses for under $20. I took a Thai cooking course that was fantastic - learned everything from basic knife skills to complex curry preparations. The instructor was engaging and the video quality was top-notch.

Another option worth considering is Skillshare. They have a subscription model, but it gives you access to a wide range of cooking classes. I particularly enjoyed their series on French cuisine.

Both platforms allow you to learn at your own pace, which I found incredibly convenient. You can replay tricky parts as many times as you need. While they don’t typically offer certificates, the skills you gain are invaluable. Just be prepared to stock up on ingredients - practicing is key to improving your culinary skills!
