As someone who’s lived near a golf course for years, I can offer a different perspective. While they do create some jobs, the benefits often don’t outweigh the costs.
The constant noise from mowers and sprinklers is disruptive, and the pesticides used have affected local wildlife; I’ve noticed fewer birds and small animals in recent years. Additionally, the course occupies extensive land that might be better used as inclusive community spaces like parks or nature reserves. Although golf enthusiasts appreciate the facility, many residents find it economically inaccessible.
in my experience, golf courses can be a mixed bag. they bring in some cash and jobs, but man, the water usage is crazy! saw a local course use up so much during a drought last year. plus, not everyone can afford to play. maybe we need to find a balance or look into more eco-friendly options?
