I’m reconsidering a $300 flat fee for a 40-hour online algebra course that now demands nearly full engagement. What fair, affordable rate would you recommend?
Hey Iris, I’ve been mulling over a similar situation and I wonder if you’ve thought about factoring in the extra hours you might be spending outside of just the live sessions (like prep and follow-up stuff). I mean, a flat fee can sometimes undersell the sheer amount of energy and expertise you’re tossing into the mix, especially if it’s nearly full engagement. Have you had a chance to chat with anyone else doing something similar to see what they’re weighing in on? For me, it sometimes helps to think about what my hourly rate would be if I wasn’t feeling so pressured to lower the fee – then you can maybe build a buffer into the flat fee so it all evened out in the end. What do you think might be a fair compromise, or have you run rough numbers already? Would love to know your thoughts on balancing affordability for the course and fair compensation for you ![]()
