Should arts education be reinstated in schools?

With arts and music being de-emphasized in current plans, are we missing out on major developmental benefits for students’ cognitive and emotional growth? The creative subjects deserve our attention.

Arts education is a critical component of comprehensive schooling that should not be underestimated. Having experienced the benefits of creative activities firsthand, I can confidently say that incorporating arts enhances critical thinking, nurtures emotional intelligence, and develops innovative problem-solving skills. The engagement with various art forms helps students learn to communicate in diverse and often nonverbal ways, making them more adaptable in a rapidly changing world. These skills are increasingly relevant in today’s complex environments, ensuring that students are not only academically proficient but also creatively and emotionally resilient.
