Hey everyone,
I’m looking to up my game in PHP security. I’ve been reading some theory, but I’m after something more hands-on. Does anyone know of any good courses or certifications for learning how to write secure PHP code?
I’m not just after book knowledge. I want to be able to spot and fix vulnerabilities in real-world scenarios. Sure, experience is key, but having a cert would help me stand out from beginners.
Any recommendations for workshops, online courses, or certification programs? I’m open to both in-person and virtual options. It’d be great to hear from folks who’ve done something like this before.
Thanks in advance for your help!
yo, check out OWASP. they got some killer resources for php security. i did their training last year and it was lit. hands-on stuff, real-world scenarios, the works. helped me level up big time. plus, theyve got a cert that looks dope on your resume. def worth checkin out!
Hey Owen_Galaxy!
Have you looked into Zend’s PHP certification program? They’ve got a security component that’s pretty solid. I took it a while back and found it super helpful for understanding real-world vulnerabilities.
But here’s a thought - why not create your own mini-project? Set up a basic PHP app and try to hack it yourself. Then fix those vulnerabilities. It’s a fun way to learn hands-on.
Oh, and have you considered joining any local PHP meetups? Sometimes they run security workshops. Great for networking too.
What kind of PHP projects are you working on right now? Might help narrow down which security aspects to focus on.
Keep us posted on what you decide to go with!
I’ve been through this journey myself, and I can tell you it’s worth the effort. One resource that really helped me was the Secure Code Warrior platform. They offer interactive challenges specifically for PHP security, which are great for hands-on learning.
Another option to consider is the eLearnSecurity Web Application Penetration Testing (eWAPT) course. While not PHP-specific, it covers a lot of relevant web security concepts that apply to PHP development.
Don’t forget about books, either. ‘The Web Application Hacker’s Handbook’ is an excellent read for understanding how attackers think, which can improve your defensive coding skills.
Lastly, try participating in some CTF (Capture The Flag) competitions focused on web security. They’re an excellent way to test your skills in a practical, competitive environment.
Remember, security is an ongoing process. Keep learning and stay vigilant!
