PSM users' pointless 'done' comments caught CFA's attention

Hey everyone, I just noticed something weird in the PSM (Project Status Meetings) lately. It looks like the CFA (Chief Financial Analyst) team has picked up on a trend of people posting useless ‘done’ comments.

These comments don’t really add anything to the discussion and just clutter up the threads. Has anyone else noticed this? I’m wondering if we should maybe talk about better ways to show task completion without spamming the PSM boards.

What do you think? Should we bring this up in the next team meeting or just let it slide? I’m curious to hear your thoughts on how we can keep our PSMs more focused and useful for everyone.

Oh man, I’ve totally been noticing those ‘done’ comments too! :see_no_evil: It’s like, we get it, you finished something, but do we really need to know every single time?

You know what might be cool? What if we had like a progress bar or something for each task? That way people could see how far along things are without cluttering up the whole thread. Just thinking out loud here!

I’m kinda curious though - has anyone actually asked the ‘done’ commenters why they do it? Maybe they’re just trying to be helpful and don’t realize it’s causing issues? Could be worth having a friendly chat with them before we go changing everything.

What do you all think about maybe setting up a quick poll to see how everyone feels about this? Might give us a better idea of whether it’s bugging others too. And hey, if we do bring it up in the next meeting, maybe we could brainstorm some fun alternatives? Like, I dunno, gifs or something?

Anyway, just throwing ideas out there! What do you guys reckon?

yeah, those ‘done’ comments are super annoying. maybe we could use emojis instead? like a checkmark or somethin. it’d be quicker and less cluttery.

we should def bring it up at the next meeting. could save everyone a ton of time and make PSMs actually useful again. just my 2 cents

I’ve definitely noticed this trend, and it’s been bugging me for a while. Those ‘done’ comments really do clog up the PSM threads and make it harder to find important updates. From my experience, a better approach would be to use the task completion checkboxes or status fields in our project management tool. That way, we can track progress without cluttering the discussion.

I think it’s worth bringing up in the next team meeting. We could suggest some guidelines for meaningful PSM updates, focusing on challenges, blockers, or key achievements. This would keep our meetings more productive and save the CFA team time in sifting through unnecessary comments.

Perhaps we could also look into setting up automated notifications for task completions. That way, relevant stakeholders get informed without needing manual ‘done’ posts. Just a thought based on what I’ve seen work well in previous projects.
