Hey everyone,
I’m a computer science grad taking a gap year to prep for the Common Admission Test (CAT). Recently, I got a scholarship for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level 1 exam in November.
I thought I could handle both since I’m not working. Finance interests me, so I signed up for CFA. My plan was to study CFA in the mornings and CAT the rest of the day, about 3-4 hours for CFA and the remaining time for CAT.
At first, I felt confident about acing both exams. But now, some folks, including my CAT coach, are saying I’ll mess up both if I try to do them together. It’s really bumming me out.
Does anyone know if it’s possible to postpone the CFA Level 1 exam? Or do you think I can manage both? Any advice would be super helpful!
Thanks!
yo emma, as someone whos juggled multiple exams b4, i gotta say its rough. CAT and CFA are both beasts. maybe postpone CFA if u can? focus on 1 thing at a time, ya know? dont wanna burn out. but if ur set on both, make a solid plan and stick to it. good luck, ull need it lol
As someone who’s been through a similar situation, I’d advise caution. Attempting both CAT and CFA Level 1 simultaneously is extremely challenging. These exams require deep focus and substantial time investment individually. Splitting your attention could potentially compromise your performance in both.
From my experience, CAT preparation is intense and demands consistent practice, especially for the quantitative and logical reasoning sections. CFA Level 1, while different in nature, is equally demanding with its broad curriculum.
If you’re set on finance, consider deferring CFA to focus on CAT first. This approach allows you to give your undivided attention to one exam at a time, potentially leading to better outcomes. Remember, it’s not just about passing, but excelling to open up better opportunities.
Ultimately, the decision is yours, but careful consideration of your long-term goals and current capacity is crucial. Good luck with your preparations!
Hey Emma_Brave! Wow, that’s quite an ambitious plan you’ve got there!
I totally get why you’d want to tackle both exams - they’re both great opportunities. But I gotta say, I’m a bit worried about the workload. Have you considered how intense each exam prep can be on its own?
I’m curious - what’s drawing you to finance right now? Is it something you’re thinking of pursuing long-term, or more of an exploration?
Maybe there’s a way to dip your toes into finance without the pressure of the CFA exam right away? Like, could you audit some finance courses or join some finance clubs while focusing on CAT?
Whatever you decide, I’m rooting for you! Keep us posted on what you choose to do. And remember, it’s okay to adjust your plans if things feel too overwhelming. Your mental health matters too!
