How to interpret my initial CFA Level II practice test results?

I just finished my first CFA Level II mock exam. My test is in a few weeks and I’m not sure how to feel about my score. I got 68% overall. I took it without reviewing all topics. I only covered some sections like Portfolio Management and Ethics recently. The first part was tough. I blanked on formulas for equity, derivatives, and quant. The second part felt easier since it had more recent topics. I’m relieved because this score is better than my first Level I mock (56%). But I know Level II is harder and all of us here passed Level I. What do you think about my progress? Should I feel good or worried? What areas should I focus on now? Any tips from those who passed or are studying too?

I’d love honest feedback to help me prep in these final weeks. Thanks everyone and good luck to all the other Level II candidates!

Your 68% score on the initial mock is actually quite promising, especially considering you haven’t reviewed all topics yet. That’s a solid foundation to build upon in these final weeks.

At this stage, I’d recommend focusing heavily on those areas where you blanked on formulas - equity, derivatives, and quant. These are crucial sections, and nailing down the key formulas can significantly boost your score.

Don’t neglect Ethics either. It’s a high-weightage section and can often be the difference between a pass and a fail.

In my experience, consistent practice is key. Try to do as many practice questions as possible, focusing on your weak areas. This will help reinforce concepts and improve your time management.

Remember, mock scores tend to improve as you review more material. Keep at it, and you should see your scores climb. Stay confident, but don’t get complacent. You’ve got this!

68% is solid for a first mock! focus on weak areas like equity and derivatives. drill those formulas hard. do tons of practice Qs, especially on tricky topics. ethics is huge too - dont skimp there. ur ahead of where u were for lvl 1, so stay confident but keep grinding. u got this!

Hey there, fellow CFA warrior!

Wow, 68% on your first Level II mock? That’s pretty impressive, especially since you haven’t covered everything yet! You should definitely feel good about that progress. :tada:

I’m curious though - which topics did you find the trickiest? For me, derivatives were a real head-scratcher at first. Did you have any particular formulas or concepts that gave you trouble?

Have you thought about your study strategy for these last few weeks? I found that doing a ton of practice questions really helped solidify things for me. Maybe we could swap some study tips?

Oh, and don’t forget to take care of yourself too! All this studying can be pretty intense. What do you do to unwind and recharge?

Wishing you all the best with your prep. Keep us posted on how it’s going!
