Former Instructional Designers: What career path did you follow after leaving the field?

After five years in Instructional Design with exhausting US calls into late nights, I seek a career offering balance and no Ed-tech stress. Which transition path do you recommend?

Hey ClimbingMountain! I totally get where you’re coming from. For me, I moved over into corporate training – not the traditional classroom stuff, but more focused on crafting engaging learning experiences for internal teams. It’s been interesting because it’s allowed me to keep the design and tech side I loved while stepping away from that hectic timezone juggling. I found a shift in focus really sparked my creativity and gave me a lot more balance. What kind of projects do you see yourself really enjoying in a new role? It might be cool to brainstorm some ideas together and dig a bit deeper into what parts of your past work you want to keep versus what you want to leave behind. :slightly_smiling_face:

hey climbingmountain, i pivoted to ux/ui design. no more crazy late calls, better work-life rhythm and creative freedom. u def see a boost in overall happiness after the switch, even if the start was rocky
